There are many reasons why you might seek counselling or psychotherapy.  Whether you have a specific issue that you need help understanding and working through, a sense that something is stopping you getting the most out of life, or simply wish to get better acquainted with yourself, weekly sessions with a qualified professional in a confidential and tranquil setting can make a significant difference to your wellbeing.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and areas of difficulty, a greater sense of personal choice and efficacy, and an enhanced capacity to relate to yourself and others.

I have more than 20 years’ experience as a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist in the NHS, community settings and private practice.  My clinical work has brought me into contact with people from diverse backgrounds and a wide range of difficulties including but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression and low mood
  • Difficulties managing emotions
  • Eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder and non specific eating distress
  • A problematic relationship with your body
  • Struggles connecting to others
  • Confusion or distress about identity
  • Loss of direction in life
  • Low self-esteem
  • Trauma
  • Work related problems

I don’t offer solutions but work with you to help you find your own. Nor do I promise quick fixes. Counselling and psychotherapy are gradual processes involving a collaborative relationship between therapist and client and a commitment to regular, weekly or twice weekly sessions at the same place, same time and same day of the week.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to the BACP’s code of ethics which stresses the importance of a safe and reliable setting, confidentiality and continual professional development.
